- I'd not noticed that...but a third of my 33.6's go into lala land every
- few days...and need to be power cycled. Can you sa "No QC"...I think USR
- can. I've gotten no response from them on email I sent about this, and
- the level 1 dweeb^H^H^H^H^Htech I talked to denied there was any problem
- and said I must have gotten a shipment that was damaged in route. He
- offered to issue RMA's but not cross-ship. Fortunately D+H is a bit more
- service oriented and was happy to ship advance replacements.
-
- While on the phone the tech pushed the MP hardware, but distributors are
- telling me not to touch the MP stuff...that it's far too buggy for
- production systems. Meanwhile, none of the 28.8 (4/18) sportsters that
- have been on 24/7 for 8 months has failed yet.
-
- Why does USR continue with this "shoot myself in the foot" attitude of
- releasing products without adaquate testing so the public can alpha test
- their new gear, and then play dumb when we come back screaming about
- defective hardware?? This is starting to look like the Spiral Death
- Syndrome fiasco all over again. I suppose in 6 months USR will hold a
- press conference and announce that a minor bug in the 10/18 firmware has
- been fixed...and that it only affected a few users in minor ways.
-
- I keep all the modems equally cool...so if heat was a problem, I'd expect
- at least a few failures from the 28.8's.
